Biogas investment increased sixfold between 2021 and 2022 and has held at these higher levels since, with 2024 expected to see continued high investment. This has been driven by material improvements in supportive policies around the world creating strong investment opportunities. Biogas is increasingly seen as a major solution for decarbonisation in hard to abate sectors, potentially delivering over 10% of all GHG savings in a net zero outcome.
Long seen as a cottage industry, biogas and biomethane production is now growing in interest for investors across public and private markets.
